The Schmid wood chip and pellet heating system UTSD

Schmid energy solutions is particularly known for its high-quality wood-fired heating systems. Developing first-class products and meeting customer needs is their passion. The systems impress with their durability and reliability. Based on the latest regulations, Schmid AG has developed the UTSD wood chip and pellet heating system.

The UTSD product line developed by Schmid impresses with its comfort and technology. Years of experience in control and boiler development have been optimally incorporated, resulting in top marks for user-friendliness and combustion technology. The boilers (25-260 kW) are tested according to the latest EN303-5:2012 regulations and have achieved the highest boiler class 5. The UTSD enables future-proof and sustainable wood heating.

Flexibility and comfort

The modular discharge elements allow for flexible configuration of the fuel supply from the fuel storage to the boiler. From the discharge auger, the material passes through the safety backdraft damper into the combustion chamber. Thanks to the sophisticated combustion chamber geometry, constructed from high-quality refractory concrete, even moist fuels up to M40 can be used for combustion. This robust construction ensures a long service life and additional safety features thanks to a combustion chamber temperature sensor, negative pressure control, and a lambda probe. Cleaning and ash removal are fully automatic. Two 50-liter or one 240-liter wheeled container provide convenient ash disposal.

Separation system for wood heating systems

Emission limits for heating systems are clearly regulated in the Clean Air Ordinance (LRV). CO₂ - neutral wood fuel offers an excellent basis for environmentally friendly heating. With the optimal combustion of the UTSD wood chip and pellet boiler from Schmid AG, the best emission values are already achieved. To further reduce particulate matter, the exhaust gases are additionally cleaned via a separation system. Previously, these particle separators or filter systems were installed separately from the boiler. Now, Schmid AG, together with a leading manufacturer, has developed an electrostatic particle separator that can be installed directly in the boiler: the e-clean.

e-clean particle separator

The e-clean separator is integrated directly above the boiler heat exchanger. This allows the exhaust gases to be cleaned while still in the hot zone. Compared to conventionally installed separators, this has the advantage of preventing condensate formation, thus eliminating high-voltage losses and corrosion damage. Positioning it in the hot zone ensures a filter availability of over 90% over the long term. The e-clean separator can be ordered with the initial order or retrofitted at a later date.
